This declaration form provides you with the ability to assign the contravention to the person driving the vehicle at the date, time and place of the said contravention. The contravention will be issued in the name of the driver indicated only if the full details are provided and declaration is signed by both parties involved. A copy of the driver`s driving license is requested as an attachment to the said declaration upon upload. This declaration can only be uploaded within 21 days from date of issue provided that the contravention has not yet been settled.
If the declaration is not signed by the driver, the contravention will still remain on the owner of the vehicle, however the person indicated as the driver of the said vehicle will receive a summons to appear in front of the Tribunal as a witness. For this purpose, please ensure that the full details of the driver are provided in the declaration form.
In the case of leased or rented vehicles, it is of utmost importance that the rental or lease agreement is uploaded together with the declaration form.
If you do not want to do this declaration process for each and every case (especially if you have more than one vehicle licensed in your name and vehicles are used by the same drivers), we suggest that you register on les.gov.mt for eServices wherein you could specify the Appointed Driver of the said vehicle. For this process, you will be required to upload the Driver’s driving license when creating the appointed driver and consecutively the Vehicle Declaration Form when assigning the vehicle onto the appointed driver.
WHOEVER IS FOUND TO HAVE MADE A FALSE DECLARATION WILL BE GUILTY OF A CRIMINAL OFFENCE AND WILL BE PROSECUTED
